Protein detail:

Protein name Transcriptional Regulator ICP4
Uniprot protein ID P09310
Protein length 1310 amino acids
Protein description Native ICP4 is a sequence-specific DNA-binding phosphoprotein that exists in solution as a homodimer. It is found in the nuclei of productively infected cells and in the tegument of mature virions. Transcriptional transactivator may interact with and recruit specific components of the general transcription machinery to viral promoters and stabilize their formation for transcription initiation. Negatively regulates its own transcription. This immediate early (EI) protein may be necessary in virion for viral pathogenesis.

Title Genomic cartography of varicella-zoster virus: A complete genome-based analysis of strain variability with implications for attenuation and phenotypic differences

Evidence In total, 13 variable sites were identified in IE62, of which seven were silent mutations or polymorphic sites that were a mix of the wild-type and variable base at that position. In all cases these were only detected in VZV-32 P72. Of particular interest
