Protein detail:
Protein name | Transcriptional Regulator ICP4 |
Uniprot protein ID | P09310 |
Protein length | 1310 amino acids |
Protein description | Native ICP4 is a sequence-specific DNA-binding phosphoprotein that exists in solution as a homodimer. It is found in the nuclei of productively infected cells and in the tegument of mature virions. Transcriptional transactivator may interact with and recruit specific components of the general transcription machinery to viral promoters and stabilize their formation for transcription initiation. Negatively regulates its own transcription. This immediate early (EI) protein may be necessary in virion for viral pathogenesis. |
