Protein detail:

Protein name P2-B Polypeptide
Uniprot protein ID P07210
Protein length 95 amino acids
Protein description P2-B plays an essential role in the virus replication cycle by acting as a viroporin.P2-B creates a pore in the host reticulum endoplasmic and as a consequence releases Ca2+ in the cytoplasm of infected cell. In turn, high levels of cytoplasmic calcium may trigger membrane trafficking and transport of viral ER-associated proteins to viroplasms, sites of viral genome replication.

Title A Single Point Mutation in the Rhinovirus 2B Protein Reduces the Requirement for Phosphatidylinositol 4-Kinase Class III Beta in Viral Replication
Author Pascal S Roulin,Luca P Murer,Urs F Greber
Evidence We identified a PI4K3b inhibitor-resistant RV-A16 variant with a single point mutation in the conserved 2B protein near the cytosolic carboxy terminus, isoleucine 92 to threonine (termed 2B[I92T]).
